Day 5: {{ Coral Pink Sand Dunes }} Highlights

We arrived at the parks opening to rent our sleds and boards for the day. You rent them for the day (or for as long as you are there, and it’s very reasonable, but the quantity is limited). We also found that they had a Jr Ranger booklet, so we grabbed one of those, too – who wouldn’t want an extra badge for their memories?!

Let me tell you…in early May, it was COLD (like in the 30s)…we layered our clothes and felt great when playing and climbing), but the sand is frigid, which make your feet even colder… we hadn’t considered this, so we wore socks to try to help 🤣

After several hours of sledding/boarding/climbing/exploring, we were exhausted! We returned our rentals and went back to our rental property for a while to rest before we returned later in the evening for a fun adventure with ROAM Outdoors and their UTV s’mores/stargazing adventure tour. Let me just tell you, that was EPIC! By far, one of our favorite activities!!! The guides were sooo much fun – from giving us personal lessons on sand boarding/sledding (and on the best/largest dunes!), picking us up at the bottom and driving us back to the top (way less exhausting than doing the climbs on foot!), finding us the perfect views of sunset, telling stories around the campfire whole enjoying our s’mores under the stars, seriously, they were the best! I HIGHLY recommend them and can’t rave about them enough! https://www.roam-outdoor.com/coral-pink-sand-dunes

*Sand-sledding and sand-boarding is a learned skill and lots of work…but we loved it! And it’s way better when you have a UTV to pick you up so you don’t have to climb!

*Pictures look fake and photo-shopped because of the color the sun adds to the sand on a clear, blue day (but no edits here!)

Anyone imagining the lion in the sand (from the Aladdin movie) coming out of here?! 🤣😅

*We found Sandquatch

*38 degrees plus wind means the sand feels like your feet are freezing…socks help! 😂

My view while watching the others climb to sled again.
Kangaroo rat tracks

*The sand dunes are incredible at night, even if the clouds roll in and mess up our clear night sky for our s’mores and stargazing excursion.

*Climbing gigantic sand dunes is so much fun, but it will WEAR YOU OUT!

{{ UtV rental info }} – As we mentioned before, we HIGHLY recommend this group with ROAM Outdoors for all of your UTV rental/tour needs. It was a major highlight of our trip! The guides were so much fun to hang out with, and we were able to enjoy way more of the park that we would ever have been able to do alone.

For laughs and giggles, I put together a video snippet of our adventures here…videos are so much funnier than pictures! Just remember that – 1) we have ZERO experience on snow (or sand) boarding/skiing… 🤪😅🤣 and 2) the height of the dunes and the speed of the UTVs are larger and faster than the videos make them appear. 🥴🤩🤪

You can continue our journey with us here… next stop… Bryce Canyon National Park.
