Day 7: {{ Capitol Reef / Goblin Valley }} Highlights
{{ Today was another travel day as we made our way to the east side of Utah, but it went through Scenic Hwy 12 & Scenic Hwy 24, so it was beautiful! The views changed often and drastically! At one point, we were at 9600 feet above sea level, seeing remnants of the last snowfall. }}

In Capital Reef, we saw…
- Petroglyph Drawings
- Fruita (and it’s old schoolhouse)
- Natural Bridges
- Beautiful “rugged” trails

{{ It was neat to see how, due to water and water pockets, they were able to have orchards and normal life right in the middle of the desert! }}
We could have spent LOTS of extra time at Capital Reef NP, but my daughter saw pictures of Goblin Valley State Park online and really wanted to get her senior cap & gown pictures there, so we had to move on…
*Goblin Valley State Park

{{This was supposed to be a super quick stop to say we saw it and then move on… but, I didn’t do my homework enough… This place was MASSIVE and otherworldly. The pictures do not do it justice. And there are also some pretty cool trails you can find here, too. This truly was a highlight of our day, and a favorite of the whole trip! We all would’ve enjoyed staying longer and exploring, especially had we planned for it. And we are already hoping to go back to better enjoy Goblin Valley soon. }}

For our next trip to Goblin Valley, we will not be in pants…it is HOT! We will pack snacks and hydration packs, just like we did on other hiking days. And, we will bring walkie-talkies and compasses to keep up with each other, since there is NO cell reception, and it’s VERY easy to get lost from each other if you are exploring. There are areas you can climb to get a good vantage point, but there is no way to see all areas.

You can continue our journey with us here… next stop…Canyonlands National Park

Here are some of my favorite National Park items (for souvenirs and for hiking/travel), if you want to check it out – https://www.amazon.com/shop/marsha0727/list/338Y20NRBHI1H?ref_=aipsflist ((as an Amazon Affiliate, I may earn a small percentage of commission from your purchases using my link – at no cost to you!
